Performance indicators
The performance of the seal strips is mainly composed of some material properties related to the service life and functional properties related to the use. Generally speaking, the material performance is reflected by the vehicle performance, and the use performance is reflected by the finished product performance.
Due to the harsh use conditions of the seal strips, the material performance determines the service life of the product. In particular, the requirements for the environment are very strict. In order to ensure that the weatherstips works normally under these conditions, the specifications and performance of door weather strippings and door sealers are usually as follows:
A. Ozone aging resistance and air aging resistance
This is because the working environment is in an all-weather state for a long time (rain, snow, wind, frost, sun), so the sealing strip ,like door rubber seal, exterior door weather stripping, usually used in outside environment,is required to maintain certain performance requirements and necessary service life in various environments, and all materials of sealer strips must have good aging resistance.
B. Hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break
The basic performance requirements of these materials generally have two groups of air environment and hot air performance requirements. According to the use situation, the operating temperature range is -40℃-70℃, and the hot air aging temperature is generally selected at 70℃.
C. High temperature performance
Since the operating temperature range of the upvc window seals and rubber weather stripping is -40℃-70℃ (up to 120℃,usually used in cars ), the type of EPDM rubber, like rubber door seals, door seal bottom (classified by propylene content) and its vulcanized rubber performance directly affect the low temperature elasticity of the sealing strip. In order to maintain good elasticity under low temperature conditions, EPDM rubber performance is often used as the standard performance.
D. Compression permanent deformation
This is because the rubber door seal strips and strip seals uses the high elasticity of its material to generate contact stress between the connecting parts based on the doors or windows, so that the rubber window seals and door seals contacts the medium. Rubber undergoes physical and chemical changes in the compressed state and when the compression disappears. These changes prevent the material from returning to its original state, resulting in compression deformation. Therefore, compression deformation is an important indicator for measuring the performance of the rubber window seal and door seals material.
E. Paint resistance
This is because the seal strip is directly installed on the windows and doors. Take car rubber window seals as example, after the rubber is vulcanized, the internal components migrate outward and contact the car paint. It directly contacts the car body paint plate. The compounds released by the paint surface elements under different environments will react with the sealing strip, accelerate aging, and reduce its performance. Therefore, paint resistance is also an important standard performance of the sealing strip.
